Premium Tour Extended Stay

Day 1

Departing from Quito, 30 minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range. After landing, about mid morning, and airport procedures a 5 min transfer in local chiva (hired bus) or local taxi from airport to Port La mision / Francisco de Orellana will drive us to embark onto a comfortable covered motor boat.

 

Here we start a canoe ride along the Napo river for about 2 hours approx, lunch box in route. Along the way birds like herons, kingfishers and others can be spotted. After arriving at NWC’s entry dock we disembark for restroom then take a majestic and peaceful 1 to 2 hours dugout canoe ride surrounded by trees overhead, paddling along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located.

 

Good possibilities of monkey sights of various species as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival to the NWC lodge by the overwhelming view of the Añangu lake, welcome drink and facilities

Day 2

Early wake up to reach the easier access parrot clay licks in Ecuador, about 1 hour away from the lodge, guests reach there just before parrot activity kicks off at the clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen. A visit that depends on weather conditions, but usually successful.

 

Later, hike along forest trail to visit the Kichwa Community of Añangu and sharing time with a family on their activities.

 

Return to the creek and hike through a Terra Firme Forest for about 30 minutes until we arrive to the second parrot clay lick where if the weather conditions help will be able to find different species of parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Lunch box served at the parrot clay lick observatory.

Day 3

After early breakfast, depart from the lodge to the finest experience at a canopy tower on the Napo. A 36m high canopy tower opened to guests in November 2004, a great way to experience the life above the forest floor.

 

This is the second tower at the Napo Wildlife Center (the first is attached to the dining hall and allows great views of the lake). Premium tour 4 days / 3 nights The tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the terra firme forest. As you ascend the 12-floor tower, you pass through different levels of the forest and emerge on top of a huge Ceiba tree. Here you cross onto a wooden platform that is actually built into the tree and experience the view formerly reserved only for the birds.

The metal tower itself was constructed to the highest standards, galvanized, and carefully inspected by engineers. Safety is the priority. The platform at the top of the tree was constructed by tree platform specialists as well. From top to bottom, there is no finer canopy experience in Eastern Ecuador. Flocks of colorful tanagers pass right through the canopy of the tree, Blue-and yellow Macaws fly past, in nearby trees Spider Monkeys search for fruit, two species of large toucans call in the early mornings and afternoons, and the life of the forest canopy opens before you. Birds that are virtually impossible to see from the forest floor far below are suddenly right beside you, oblivious to your presence.

The canopy tower opens a whole new world to guests of the Napo Wildlife Center!! Lunch served at the lodge. Afternoon visit to a terra firme trail, hike along primary forest to discover the forest interior, possibilities of finding lizards, colorful manakins or the unique and endemic Golden mantle tamarin monkeys. After the hike, explore the lake and creeks by dugout canoe with great possibilities of running into a Giant otter family on the way

Day 4

Day 4 Early departure and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo river, the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Monk Saki monkeys or many other rare birds. Entry docking area, use of restrooms and embarking on motorized canoe in order to return back to Coca, arrival approximately after 2 hours boat ride up river, in order to check for Coca – Quito flight, schedule to be announced according to departure details and arrangements. NOTICE: For security reasons, swimming into Añangucocha (lagoon) is forbidden. Additional Day(s): Optional excursions such as hikes through different trails and forest types. Canoe rides exploring deeper areas of surrounding creeks with more wildlife possibilities, additional mammal clay lick excursion, handcraft workshop with the local community among other options

Premium Tour Extended Stay

Day 1:

A rewarding 30 minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range is the beginning of this amazing experience. After landing, a short 5 minute drive to the port in the Napo River will take you onto a comfortable covered motor boat.

 

Here we start a boat ride along the Napo for approximately 2 hours. Some aquatic birds can be spotted on the way. After arriving at Napo Wildlife Center’s welcoming area, we take a magical and peaceful 2 hour dugout-canoe along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located.

 

Great chances to spot wildlife, various species of monkeys as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, experience the life above the forest floor visiting the 36-meter canopy tower. This tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the forest. Get a very good sample of the 567 species recorded so far, with a close look at colorful tanagers, macaws, toucans, flycatchers and even Spider or Howler Monkeys feeding themselves on the nearby trees.

 

The canopy tower opens a whole new world to the guests of the Napo Wildlife Center.

Return to the lodge for a typical Ecuadorian lunch.

 

After lunch there are many options to choose from before you start the afternoon activity: climb the dining room tree tower for more birds, or just relax in your hammock. In the afternoon, hike through a marvelous terra- firme forest to discover the ecology and the role of plants in the complex world of the Tropical Rain-Forest: vines, ancient trees, bromeliads, orchids stand out in this impressive natural garden. After the hike, explore the surrounding creeks with possibilities of running into a Giant otter family. Dinner at 7:30pm.

Day 3

This morning we visit the best parrot clay licks in Ecuador!!! Early start and paddle downstream on the Añangu creek as far as the welcome area. Then, take the motor boat for a 10 minute ride for a wonderful view of thousands of parrots such as Amazon-Mealy, blue-headed, orange –cheek, among others, landing on the earth to eat the clay.

 

Extended Stay 5 days / 4 nights Later, back to the welcome area and a short hike to the parakeets’ clay lick, where hundreds of cobalt-winged parakeets remain on the top of the trees searching for the best time to eat the salts, chemicals and minerals contained in the organic matter.

 

Lunch in the welcome area. In the afternoon, visit the interpretation area to learn about traditions of the ancestral Kichwa community of Añangu. Back to the lodge late in the afternoon where you’ll be welcomed back with a refreshing fresh juice. Dinner at 7:30pm.

Day 4

This morning we hike along the Tiputini trail and its terra-firma forests and swamp forests, searching for more wildlife such as Golden-Mantled Tamarins, White-Faced capuchin monkey, two and three toed sloths, pigmy squirrels, carnivores and their tracks on the forest floor.

Back to the lodge for lunch and a well deserved rest. In the afternoon paddle canoes will take you to explore deeper areas in the surrounding creeks with more possibilities of seeing unique wildlife. After dinner a video about the community and Napo Wildlife Center will be shared with you. 

Day 5

Early breakfast, and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo river, the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Monk Saki monkeys, hoatzins, blackcapped donacobius or other birds. The motorized canoe will take you back to Coca, for the flight back to Quito.

NWC 5 Day Birding

Day 1

Within the borders of Yasuni National Park in the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador you will have the privilege to see its diverse and unique flora and fauna of over 500 different bird species, vascular plants, amazing amphibians and mammals.

​

​

This place was built on top of ancestral land by the Añagu Kichwa community and its run by them. A birding tour in the wildlife paradise will be an experience you will surely remember for life. Read and found information about de program.

On the morning of the first day, you will take an approximately 30 minute flight to Coca and it’s there where the adventure begins. You will take a canoe ride that will last about two hours and will take you downstream to the NWC, where the personnel will be waiting to welcome you.

There, you will change to smaller paddles canoes and go through Añangu Creek to arrive to the Napo Wildlife Center’s lodge.

 

During this short trip, you will see a lot of interesting and colorful animals including birds like the Red-bellied Macaw, Tiger-Heron, among many others.

Day two to four

During this time you will have the opportunity to explore western Amazonia see a lot of the hundreds of bird species that inhabit this place. There will be one or two mornings during your stay dedicated to visit the canopy tower, so you can experience the forest 36 meters from the ground and very close to the marvelous birds.

​

​

There are a lot of aracaris, euphonias and other bird species that roam around the tower searching for food and you will be able to see these astonishing animals in their habitat as they perform their regular activities.

The trails of the forest provide passage to other bird habitats where you will find woodcreepers, tinamous, among others. There are different clay licks on the Napo Wildlife Center where you’ll be able to see a marvelous spectacle of colorful parakeets and parrots flying all around searching for clay.

​

There will also be several canoe rides throughout the lake and its creeks. During those rides you will have the pleasure to hear the beautiful songs of the Silvered Antbirds. In the NWC you’ll see many exotic birds, some of which you might have not even heard before.

Day 5

This last day, after one last breakfast, you’ll go back to Cola where you will be able to purchase a flight to Quito. This will be an experience you will remember for life.

Cultural adventure tour

NWC 5 Days Cultural

Day 1

After a short 30 minute flight from Quito to Coca city you will take a nice boat road for around 2 hours along the Napo River. And here the fun begins, as you will be able to spot the first of many bird species you’ll have the privilege to see during the trip.

​

You’ll be offered a warm welcome alongside a delicious drink when you arrive to the location and then you will be escorted to your cabin. Later in the day, you’ll go to the Napo riverbank and be amazed by the sunset.

Day 2

You’ll have the options to get up very early in the morning and go share with the locals and learn about their beautiful and interesting culture. You will taste their food, listen to their stories and music and see how they develop their daily activities. After, you’ll head back to eat a delicious breakfast.

When you arrive to the Napo Wildlife Center lodge, you will enjoy a typical Ecuadorian dish for lunch. And after, you can choose from a wide range of activities to do, like climbing to see more birds or just spend some peaceful time in your cabin.

Day 3

On this day you will visit the parrot clay licks to see those beautiful and colorful birds flying all around. You’ll ride a canoe along the Añangu creek to the welcome zone and there take a short boat trip to enjoy the astonishing view of hundreds of different parrot species, like the blue-headed, the Amazon-Mealy, and others.

Day 4

On day number 4, you’ll hike through the Tiputini trail, where you will see exotic animals like the White-faced capuchin monkey, pigmy squirrels, among other wonders. After that, you’ll go back for lunch and in the afternoon, you will be taken by canoes into deeper zones inside the forest to explore its wildlife.

Day 5

After an early buffet style breakfast, you will have one last trip to the Napo River, in there you might be able to see amazing Giant otters, as well as black-capped donacobius and other species of birds. You’ll ride a canoe back to Coca to get a flight to Quito.
